What does APFD stand for?
APFD is an acronym for Aggie Pack Fire Department.
Where can the engine be seen?
The Aggie Pack Fire Department and Engine can be seen at over 100 events a year from UC Davis Athletic contests, to community celebrations including charity events and weddings.
Why is the engine considered to be an antique or vintage fire engine?
The engine is built by a Los Angeles company called CROWN who stopped production of fire apparatus in 1985. They are highly touted for their quality of being a legendary firefighting vehicle and were commonly referred by firefighters who used them as "Royalty of Fire Apparatus."
Why is it painted blue and gold?
It is painted in honor of UC Davis school colors of blue and gold to best represent our mission to spread Aggie Pride.
Why a fire engine?
Why not! The Aggie Pack likes to spread Aggie Pride near and far and what better way then a blue and gold fire engine. The engine is commonly referred to as the "Spirit Engine" of UC Davis.
How do I get the APFD to show up to my event?
Contact the Aggie Pack Fire Department Chief to find out if the engine is available for your next event by calling 530-752-8962.
How much did the fire engine cost to buy?
To purchase the engine ASUCD and Athletics worked together to purchase the engine from the UC Davis Fire Department for $5000 in May of 2004.
How much is the total cost to restore it?
We do not know. We will let you know when it is finished being restored.
Who pays for the fire engine?
NOT THE STUDENTS!!! Upkeep and restoration are done by donations and corporate sponsorships. Corporate Partners are proudly displayed on the side of the engine and can be viewed here.
Is the Aggie Pack Fire Department a real fire department?
No, but the APFD will respond to loud cheers and help people have a good time.
