Aggies Hand Stanford Its First Pac-10 Loss


No. 7 Derek Moore pinned Stanford's Juston Johnson with 1:10 left in the the third and final period of the 141-pound match to cap off the UC Davis wrestling team's 38-6 victory over Stanford during the third annual "Beauty and the Beast" promotion which featured the Pac-10 wrestling dual side-by-side the Aggie gymnastic team's dual meet with Boise State at the UC Davis' Pavilion Friday evening. Moore And Cook Win Pac-10 Titles

STANFORD, Calif. - Derek Moore and Ken Cook captured their first ever Pac-10 conference titles along with berths to the national championship on Monday evening at Stanford's Maples Pavilion as Moore took a 8-1 decision over Dave Roberts of Cal Poly in the 141-pound championship match which was followed by Cook's 9-1 major decision win over Oregon State's Jeremy Larson at 174-pounds. The Aggies placed sixth overall and for the third consecutive season will send four wrestlers to the NCAA tournament with Omar Gaitan and Tyler Bernacchi each earning wild card berths.
